27 Days of Oscar, Day 15: progress
First of all, I need to make a correction. It is clear that I'm less plugged into this Oscar race than usual considering when writing about "Foxcatcher" I seemed to forget that Mark Ruffalo WAS nominated for Best Supporting Actor. Oops.
Now that the air is cleared on that matter, I have made a bit of progress in my Oscar watching. In just a few hours I will have watched all of the nominees in the Foreign Film category. In the past few days I have watched "Leviathan" and the deliriously exciting "Wild Tales." And just minutes ago I watched "Timbuktu." I am headed directly after posting this to a friend's house to watch "Ida." I can't wait to get my thoughts on this category out for you all to see. A favorite category since I officially started covering the Oscars.
I also watched "The Judge," a film I enjoyed very much as well as "Nightcrawler," I am going to save my thoughts on "Nightcrawler" for a few days, but I will say that my Mother, an Earth person where Oscar is concerned is convinced that Duvall will win the Oscar. I think Simmons has it in the bag, but if there is an upset I will owe my mother $20.
Going into the next few days I am going to continue watching as many films as possible and publishing on each category. Will probably begin with Original Screenplay and go from there.
I still need to get to both "Selma" and "The Theory of Everything," but to be honest I am enjoying staying a bit out of the Best Picture race...for now.
Here is an updated list of films yet to see.
