27 Days of Oscar: Day 4, predicaments and challenges

Day 4 of this 27 Days of Oscar has presented me with a couple of challenges.  I finished "The Missing Picture" yesterday...which left me with 3 more foreign films to watch before beginning my piece for Awards Daily.  As I was gearing up to watch the next on my list I got an email asking if I would like to interview Joshua Oppenheimer, the director of the fantastic documentary "The Act of Killing."

I had also just confirmed that I would interview one of the actors and the director of "Omar," the Palestinian foreign film nominee.  This meant that I needed to rewatch both films before Monday.  Not the easiest thing to do since I am working at my lovely day job both today and tomorrow.  And was hoping to watch one of the films nominated that I had yet to see.  Ah...love this final push toward the Oscars.

Another very strange predicament.  I don't quite yet know what to do on the night of the Oscars themselves.  I usually have quite the party in NYC...after I have made a mad dash to watch all of the films and get my predictions decided upon and posted.  I had hoped I might attend the ceremony this year, but I waited a little too late to make that happen, even with a couple of new acquaintances who work for the Academy.  Intimate gathering?  Watch alone?  I simply don't know what to do.  Ah...my new life in Los Angeles.

Remember how I mentioned the Ace Eddie's yesterday and how it might be telling if either "Captain Phillips" or "12 Years a Slave" won over "Gravity."  Well...it happened.  "Captain Phillips" did indeed win the editing award.  And "American Hustle" won on the comedy side.  Needless to say, I'm not at all looking forward to making my predictions.

On a final note....yes, this is going to be a quick update...when I got home last night after seeing a dear friend in downtown LA I was inundated with status updates concerning Woody Allen and Dylan/Mia Farrow.  I saw friends posting article upon article...some with opinions, some allowing the exhausting amount of "journalism" to speak for themselves.  People on both sides battling it out in the comments sections as if they really knew what had happened.  I do not care to share my opinion...because it truly doesn't matter.  I simply hope it is resolved soon.  In private.
