The Academy rescinds Best Song Nomination!!!

This just in:

The Academy has rescinded the Best Song nomination for "Alone But Not Alone!"

The Board determined that Broughton’s actions were inconsistent with the Academy’s promotional regulations, which provide, among other terms, that “it is the Academy's goal to ensure that the Awards competition is conducted in a fair and ethical manner."

An additional song nomination will not be named, leaving four nominees in the category.

  2. It's happened at least once. The score of "The Godfather" was originally nominated, but was withdrawn because part of it had been written for another film (however, that year, they put in a replacement nomination).

I just saw DM2 and "Happy" is really a great song. I also really liked "Ordinary Love," although as soon as it started to play, I thought: here's their biggest bid for an Oscar nomination.

But "Let it Go" is still my favorite.
