27 Days of Oscar, Day 6: DGA Winners!

The Director's Guild of America announced their award winners at a dinner at the Ray Dolby Ballroom last night. Brian gave his breakdown of the Feature Film winner last night and what it would mean for the Oscars. As Sasha Stone from Awards Daily put it recently, Argo is either going to be Driving Miss Daisy or it's going to be Apollo 13. It's hard not to see it as the former (winning Best Picture without a nomination for Director--it would be only the second time it's happened) I'm going to be rewatching it this week as the first time it didn't grab me at all. I didn't hate it, but it was no where near my top 10.

Last night's winners:

Feature Film: Ben Affleck, Argo
Commericals: Alejandro G. Inarritu, Best Job
Dramatic Series: Rian Johnson, Breaking Bad
Reality Program: Brian Smith, Master Chef
Movies/Mini-Series for Television: Jay Roach, Game Change
Musical Variety: Glenn Weiss, 66th Annual Tony Awards
Daytime Serials: Jill Mitwell, One Life to Live
Children's Programs: Paul Hoen, Let it Shine
Documentary: Malik Bendjelloul, Searching for Sugar Man
Comedy Series: Lena Dunham, Girls

27 Days of Oscar, Day 17: Fighting the queer fight and Production Design

Reading that headline makes me laugh a bit. "Fighting the queer fight and Production Design." Not quite the perfect combination...
